Instygator Rolls In $100,000 Refrigerator For Third Grade 1 Victory

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 26, 2022—Instygator, under regular rider Juan Pulido, rolled to his third career Grade 1 victory on Saturday when he handily defeated a field of 10 other top horses in the $144,000 Refrigerator Handicap(G1) at Lone Star Park.

The 4-year-old gelding kicked clear late to finish 1-3/4 lengths ahead of Apolliticalfastprize. Instygator scored his third win in five starts this season while completing the 440 yards in :21.084 seconds, equaling a 106 speed index over a sloppy (sealed) racing surface.  Impressum hold the Lone Star Park 440 yard track record of :21.030.

Trainer Santos Carrizales, Jr. saddled Instygator to his ninth career win for owner Barboza Racing Corp. AQHA Racing Champion Breeder Bobby D. Cox bred the son of leading sire Ivory James in Texas from the Mr Eye Opener mare Eye Popping.

Winner of the All American QH Derby(G1), The Championship at Sunland Park(G1) and runner-up in the Leo Stakes (G1), the Refrigerator winner's purse valued at $80,640 pushed the brown gelding earnings total to $1,582,251.

Runner-up Apolliticalfastprize ducked in at the start under jockey Adrian Ramos but recovered quickly to pocket $23,040 for second. Telma Janet Loya trains the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess for owner Aurelio Juarez. Bred in Oklahoma by Ezra Lee, Jill Giles and Melvin Neugebauer Apolliticalfastprize has earned $187,233. He is out of the Dmnv Mountable mare Ms Fast First Prize.

Hesa Party Wagon led at the start under jockey Christian Ramos but ended a neck back to earn $12,960 for third. Owned-and-trained by Juan Manuel Baeza the graded stakes winning son of Hes Relentless is out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Lil Miss Party Doll. The Oklahoma-bred gelding has earned $184,624.

Whirlaway Wagon, Jess My Hocks, Da Devil Made Medoit, Jess Rocket Man, Elmer, One Slick V, Other World and Midday News completed the field
