TEMECULA, CA—DECEMBER 13, 2016—Enrique Gonzalez announced last week his champion filly Walk Thru Crystal has retired and will go into the broodmare band for 2017 at his EG High Desert Farm near Temecula, California.
Under the care of trainer Yanet Rodriguez, the 2015 AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Filly, Walk Thru Crystal compiled a (14) 6-3-1 record and earned $675,855 in two seasons of racing.
The multiple grade 1 stakes winner won the Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1) and Kindergarten Futurity(G1) at 2. She was also fourth in the Golden State Million Futurity(G1) and a finalist in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1). At 3 she was third in the Autumn Handicap and was a finalist in the Grade 2 Golden State Derby.
A daughter of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, Walk Thru Crystal is out of multiple stakes-placed Corona Cartel mare Corona Crystal ($163,463). Her third dam is a sister to champion/champion producer Dashing Phoebe, by Dash For Cash.
He told StallioneSearch that the sorrel filly has been booked to first year sire and leading contender for championship honors Ec Jet One, 2016 leading sire One Famous Eagle and 2016 leading third-crop sire Apollitical Jess for 2017.
