Grade 1 Winner Big Lew To Stand At Lazy E

GUTHRIE, OK—SEPTEMBER 13, 2017—Big Lew, the son of Corona Cartel that last year won the $767,750 Los Alamitos Super Derby G1 and was third by a half-length in the $600,000 Champion of Champions G1 as a 3 year-old, will begin his breeding career in 2018 at Lazy E Ranch.

Currently in training at Los Alamitos with Mike Robbins, the Reliance Ranches-owned brown four-year-old horse has already earned $626,378. In 22 outs, he has been in a total of seven Grade I races at Remington, Los Alamitos and Ruidoso: Los Alamitos Super Derby, Champion of Champions, Leo Stakes, Rainbow Derby, Ruidoso Derby, Remington Park Invitational Championship and Go Man Go Handicap. In addition to those seven Grade I races, he also was a finalist in the Oklahoma Futurity G2 and Oklahoma Derby G1.

Out of the Grade I winning Executive Menace mare Executive Looks, Big Lew is a full brother to 2017 Ed Burke Million Futurity G1 winner KVN Corona $409,250. Executive Looks, their dam, won the Manor Downs Futurity G1, the Heartbeat Of America Handicap and the La Villita Stakes and five other races. She was also a finalist in the Dash For Cash Futurity G1 and Southwest Juvenile Championship G1.

Executive Looks is a full sister to multiple stakes winner Executive Prince $94,226, G1, and a half-sister to 2017 three-year-old stakes placed winner One Sweet Picky $104,003.

Sticky N Picky $117,391, the second dam of Big Lew, was a multiple stakes winner at Los Alamitos and is Grade I placed. The pedigree also includes Grade I winner Executively $81,278; multiple graded stakes winner Weeza Gone Gray $145,125; 15-time winner All Wacked Out $217,339; and G1 winner and World Record Setter Classic Sassy Chic $221,377.

Trainer Mike Robbins, who has won the Champion of Champions with World Champion Sgt Pepper Feature, World Champion Dashs Dream and World Champion Special Leader, looks forward to trying the Champion of Champions again this year.

"He’s in excellent shape right now and our goal is to try to go home with that trophy," Robbins said.

The next out for Big Lew probably will be the $125,000 Robert L. Boniface Handicap G1 on October 15.

Butch Wise of Lazy E Ranch said, "This is an extremely handsome horse that will fit a lot of mares. When you are on the board 16 of 22 starts at only the major tracks like Ruidoso, Remington Park and Ruidoso you are the kind of stallion that breeders desire to use in their breeding programs.

We had the pleasure of selling Big Lew as a yearling, just like we did his brother KVN Corona. Both Big Lew and KVN Corona are really wonderfully conformed horses that are really fast and sound.

"With his bottom side pedigree being devoid of any Streakin Six blood, I believe he should be an excellent cross with daughters of Mr Jess Perry and his sons One Famous Eagle and Apollitical Jess. He should also have an affinity for First Down Dash and his sons."

Big Lew’s 2018 breeding fee will be announced later this fall. For additional information or breeding contracts call Butch Wise or Matt Witman at 405-282-3437.
