Champion Five Bar Cartel Gets Second Winner and First Graded Stakes Finalist

BOSSIER CITY, LA--MARCH 3, 2018--First-crop sire AQHA Racing Champion Five Bar Cartel got his second winner and first graded stakes finalist on Saturday.

Fivebarlove, a daughter of Five Bar Cartel, posted a half-length win, under jockey Noe Castaneda, to post the fourth fastest time in the Grade 3 $238,090 Harrah's Entertainment Futurity at Louisiana Downs.

Trainer Jose Garcia saddled the Texas homebred filly for owner/breeder Edwardo Lopez. The sorrel filly, out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Jessanoldlove, completed the 300 yards in :15.872 seconds into a 10 mph headwind.

Five Bar Cartel got his first official winner on February 24 when Sweet Five, won her trail for the $310,466 Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) at Louisiana Downs. German Rodriguez owns the filly out of Oso Sweet Look by Special Effort. B & G Investments Inc. is the breeder.

A Grade 1 winning son of Corona Cartel, Five Bar Cartel was named the 2014 AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt. He won or placed in eight of 11 starts and banked $1,068,825. He won the Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1) and was second in the All American Derby(G1).

Five Bar Cartel stands at Robicheaux Ranch Inc. near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. His 2018 fee is $4,500 with consideration.
