Second-Crop Sire Wagons West Gets First Stakes Winner

BRUXELLES, MB—MAY 20, 2018—Second-crop sire Wagons West SI 107 sired his first stakes winner on Sunday when Bw de Elegant won the $28,500 Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs.

Under jockey Dallas Erickson, Bw de Elegant completed the 330 yards in :17.010 seconds to earn a 95 speed index. Guy Weeks trains the Idaho home-bred for owners-breeders Betty and Boyd Weeks. The bay colt is out of Bw de Stuff by The Flight Stuff. He earned $13,110.

From a limited number of starters in two crops to race, Wagons West is the sire of 3 winners, 1 stakes winner with average earnings per starter of more than $13,600.

Oklahoma's Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Colt in 2013, Wagons West won or placed in seven starts and earned $51,766. The son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon was second in Remington Park's Mr Jet Moore Stakes and Hialeah Park's Beautiful Prairie Stakes. He was also a finalist in the Remington Park Championship Challenge(G2).
