AURORA, CO—JULY 7, 2012—Junior Quarter Horses, Inc.'s Dreamers Cartel cruised to an easy one-length victory over Urbanite in the $27,000 Merial West/Southwest Distaff Challenge at Arapahoe Park on Saturday afternoon.
Coming into the race off the fastest qualifying time during the June 22nd trials, Dreamers Cartel completed the 400 yard task in :20.090 seconds into a 20 mph headwind. Ridden by Russell Vicchrilli, the Chris Gandarilla trainee picked up $12,420 and secured a starting position in the $175,000 Merial Distaff Challenge Championship(G1) at Prairie Meadows on October 27th.

Urbanite earned $5,400 for owner Royal Dream Ranch, LLC. Jaime Dominguez trains the Check Him Out 5-year-old with Felipe Garcia-Luna riding. Blane Schvaneveldt and John Andreini bred the mare in California from the First Down Dash mare Imjumpn. She earned more than $72,000.
Terry Wootan's Jesiacountrychick finished 1-¾ lengths back for the show position. Larry Chaves trains the Country Chicks Man 4-year-old out of Miss Jess Rogue, by Mr Jess Perry. Ridden by Cody Jensen, the Yates/Bennet/Wootan bred filly earned $2,700.
Opportunity Runaway, Corona For You, Fast Dash Tanisha, Shake Em Rub, Hardly A Tres, A Regal Blue Sky and Miss Country Chicks completed the Merial West/Southwest field.
