LETHBRIDGE, ALB—MAY 12, 2013—Ed Borgstrom's Legacys A Streakin put on a big finish to keep her three-race win streak alive while defeating Sr Rode Tah Glory by a neck in the $14,847(US) Markell Bonus Challenge at Lethbridge.
Under jockey Tyler Walker the 5-year-old gray mare took an early lead and held on while covering the 300 yards in :15.410 seconds, a 105 speed index. The $7,869(US) moved Legacy A Streakin's earnings mark to $89,501.
Laurie Ferguson conditions the Streakin La Jolla mare out of Legacy Tells All, by Corona Cartel. Legacys A Streakin was making her first start of the season, coming off a layoff after winning races in September and October of 2012 at Lethbridge. D. Friesen, A. Janzen and K. Siebert bred the multiple stakes winner of 10 races from 19 starts in Colorado.
Sr Rode Tah Glory races for owner Mark Cassel and trainer Allen Goodsell. Ed and Mary Klyer bred the 3-year-old daughter of Latest Version in Alberta from the Streakin La Jolla mare Kr Mia La Jolla. Ridden by Teagan Oulton, the sorrel miss picked up $3,850(US) to bump her earnings record to $43,633.
Graded stakes-placed Tres Seis Smooches finished three-quarter back in the show position for owner/breeder Angelle Carter. Tyrel Oulton conditions the Tres Seis filly out of Sheza Soverign Dash, by Royal Soverign. Larris Allen was aboard the Alberta bred 4-year-old. She earned $1,782(US) for the effort.
Completing the Markell Bonus Challenge field were Madam Goldilocks, Lucky Royal Rabbit, FDD Discovery, Dash Poruno and Cr Rajun Cajun.
