Lota Pyc, Pajarita Sita Meet In First Adequan Ruidoso Derby Trial Friday

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 10, 2013—Remington Park Futurity winner Lota Pyc and the sharp Pajarita Sita lead the first of three trials to the Adequan Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge on Friday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The trials will run as the first three races with a 1 p.m. first post time. There is always free parking and free general admission at Ruidoso Downs.

Lota Luch Racing’s Lota Pyc tries to regain the form that led him to win his first four starts, highlighted by his overwhelming two-and-one-quarter-length win in the $720,000 Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Futurity. Those have been his four career wins from seven lifetime starts.

Lota Pyc, a son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon, returned from a six-month layoff to make one start this spring at Remington Park for trainer Sleepy Gilbreath and finished fifth in his Heritage Place Derby trial as the 3-10 favorite.

Roy Baldillez will ride Lota Pyc with the seventh post position.

Last year, Pajarita Sita finished third in the West Texas Futurity and qualified for the Ruidoso Futurity.

Tanner Thedford will up with the inside post position.

The third trial is deep with Arizona-invader Cuz I Say So, John Deere Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge winner Rockin Disco and Grade 2 Hobbs America Futurity runner-up Whiteface Eagle.

The Rock Solid Jess gelding has made two starts this year with a West Texas Derby trial win and then finishing off the board in the derby.

Rockin Disco drew the third post position and Ricky Ramirez rides for trainer Tammy Kay Johnson.

Mexas Racing Team’s Whiteface Eagle was second behind A Dream To Remember in the Hobbs America Futurity last fall and then third behind champion PJ Chick In Black in the West Texas Derby this spring.
