Joltin Jess Punches Ticket to Iowa through Ontario

AJAX, ONT—AUGUST 26, 2014—Multiple stakes winner Joltin Jess was in peek form Tuesday when he caught Feature My News in the Bank of America Ajax Challenge Championship to assure himself a starting spot in the Bank of America Challenge Championship(G1) starting gate this fall.

Ridden by jockey Shanley Jackson the Take Off Jess 6-year-old broke third but ran down Feature My News and third place finisher What Ta Wear while completing the 440 yard course in :21.530 seconds, a 110 speed index. The sorrel gelding pocketed $31,104(US) of the $64,800(US) Bank of America Ajax Challenge purse money for his victory.

His next race could be the $350,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship(G1) during the Bank of American Challenge Championship Night October 18 at Prairie Meadows.

Greg Watson conditions Joltin Jess for owner Glenn Graff. Bred in Oklahoma by Circle S Ranch, Inc., from the Pine's Easter Jet mare Jettin Home, his career record stands at (26) 10-6-2 with earnings of $243,290. Today's race was his fifth career stakes win and first outside the state of Florida.

Feature My News, another multiple stakes winner at Hialeah Park, earned $13,284(US) for his second place effort. Stan Webb saddled the Feature Mr Jess 5-year-old for owner Alicia Hill Smith. W.W. McKibbin bred the sorrel in Florida from the Dash Of Romance mare Goodnews Montanna. Cory Spataro was riding the $219,318 earner.

Renee Wilson owns-and-trains What Ta Wear, a 4-year-old Game Patriot filly out of the Stoli mare Stoli Wear. Ridden by Daniel Rose, the sorrel miss earned $6,480(US) for the effort. Sandra Laszlo bred the earner of nearly $90,000 in Ontario.

Mitford, The Fdd Map, McM Tres Episode, Memories Times Six and Varsity Lace completed the field.
