Bf Farm Boy Uses Sharp Effort To Set Fastest Bank of America Prairie Meadows Trial Time

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 30 2014—Graded stakes winner Bf Farm Boy put in a sharp effort under jockey Cody Smith to defeat Stimulus by half-a-length while setting the top qualifying mark for the Bank of America Prairie Meadows Challenge Championship on Saturday.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the two trial races contested, will return to the Prairie Meadows racetrack on Saturday, September 13 and vie for the winner's share of a $70,000-added purse going 440 yards. The winner will get a starting spot in the $350,000-Guaranteed Grade 1 Bank of America Challenge Championship set for October 18 at Prairie Meadows.

William Harris saddled Bf Farm Boy to his 10th career win in Saturday's trials for owners Don Boyle and Wade Segal. The Hawkinson 6-year-old completed the 440 yard task in a super fast :21.405 seconds to knock down the top qualifying spot while earning a 106 speed index.

Bred in Oregon by Boyle and his wife Peggy, Bf Farm Boy has earned more than $220,000. He is out of the Strawfly Special mare Shirleys Strawfly.

The aforementioned Stimulus, a 4-year-old half-brother to World Champion and former all-time leading money earner Stolis Winner, held on to the second fastest time of :21.470, a 105 speed index. Charley Hunt conditions the Mr Jess Perry Texas homebred for owner/breeder Jerry Windham. Ridden by Stormy Smith, Stimulus entered the trials off a win in the TQHA Classic Stakes at Retama Park on July 25. Out of the Runaway Winner mare Veva Jean, the gray has earned $43,975.
