Chicks Special Angel Wins BOA Emerald Challenge Championship, Earns Duel Invites to Championship

AUBURN, WA—AUGUST 31, 2014—Chicks Special Angel was unchallenged as she raced to a 1˝ length win over Ambush Alley in the $64,530 Bank Of America Emerald Challenge Championship Sunday at Emerald Downs. Alota Action finished another 1˝ lengths back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Eddie Aceves, Chicks Special Angel completed the 440 yards in a quick :21.748 seconds, a 105 speed index. It was the fourth consecutive win this season for the multiple stakes winner who earned her second invite to the Bank of America Challenge Championships October 18th at Prairie Meadows.

Saturday's win guaranteed her a starting spot in the $350,000 Grade 1 Bank of America Challenge Championship. However, two races back the Chicksspecialmongoose 6-year-old won the Merial Distaff Sun Downs Challenge on May 4, thus giving her an invite to the $125,000-Guaranteed Merial Distaff Challenge Championship(G1) on the same night!

Trainer Juan Sanguino conditions the sorrel miss for owner Miguel Sanguino. Richard and Fern Wilde bred the mare in Oregon from the Super Bowl Dash mare Cff Plain Jane. She has won 15 of 22 career starts and the $30,329 winner's check from Emerald Downs boosted her earnings mark to $77,651.

Ambush Alley races for owner/trainer Eloy Mendoza. Steve Burns, DVM bred the Snowbound (TB) 6-year-old in California from the Dash Ta Fame mare Fames Easy. Rodolfo Arvizu was up to earn $12,906.

Ernesto Olmos saddled Alota Action for owner John Olmos. Martin Arriaga rode the Quick Auction (TB) mare out of Alota Traffic, by Dash Thru Traffic. Stanley Watkins bred the 6-year-old in California. She earned $6,454 for the effort.

Completing the field were Rogue County, Eagle B Gone, Lil Bitts A Dash, One Famous Secret, Hyho Travio and Veyron.

Zoetis Emerald Starter Allowance Challenge

Bellingham earned a starter spot in the $75,000 Guaranteed Zoetis Starter Allowance Challenge Championship on Sunday after defeating Eyes Movin by three-quarters of a length in the Zoetis Emerald Starter Allowance Challenge.

Jose Sanguino saddled the Check Him Out 5-year-old to his seventh career win. Ridden by Eddie Aceves, the California-bred, out of My Ladys Eyes by Mr Eye Opener, completed the 350 yards in :17.829 seconds, a 101 speed index.

Bred by Zory Kuzyk, Bellingham recovered from a bumpy start to win with authority for owner Pedro Sanguino. The $8,510 winner's purse boosted his earnings total to nearly $29,000.

Eyes Movin races for owner Ramiro Cancino. Also conditioned by Sanguino, the Mr Eye Opener 7-yaer-old earned $3,635. Heza Beer Man finished third, earning $1,773 for owner Linda Arrossa. Monty Arrossa trains with Never Marin riding.

Cowboy From Morgan, Mr Speedygonzalez, Sollovino, Twentybucksonahalter and Just A Rumor completed the field.
