ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 12, 2014—Saturday’s 10-race program at Prairie Meadows will feature a total of six Bank of America Challenge races, topped by the 440-yard, $77,130 Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge (G2).

The winner of all of Saturday’s Challenge races will earn berths in the six Challenge Championship stakes at Prairie Meadows on October 18.

Mary Passmore Kirby’s Slew Of Success, a 4-year-old Cartel Success gelding trained by Jackie Kirby, is the 7-2 morning-line favorite for the Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge. The runner-up in the first of two trials on August 30, Slew Of Success was coming off of a Remington Park spring meet in which he won all four of his starts, including the 400-yard, $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) for Oklahoma-breds on May 3.

Josh Romero has been named to ride Slew Of Success from post 4. The gelding’s nine opponents include a pair of 2014 stakes winners, Jerry Windham’s Stimulus and Ricardo Martinez’s Habits Secret.

Merial Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge

Saturday’s 400-yard, $32,040 Merial Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge has attracted a full field of 10 fillies and mares, including Garlyn O. Shelton’s Stolis Angel.

A homebred stakes winning 4-year-old daughter of champion Stoli, Stolis Angel is trained by Russell Harris. The mare will be making her first start since July 5, when she scored a wire-to-wire 1 1/2-length victory in the 400-yard, $20,000 Merial Arapahoe Park Distaff Challenge.

Stolis Angel drew the rail post and will be ridden by Larry Payne.

Xoom, the lone 3-year-old in the field, ships in from Canterbury Park in Minnesota, where she ran third in a pair of stakes, including the 400-yard, $53,000 Canterbury Park Derby on July 6. David Pinon will ride the homebred daughter of Shazoom for owner Paul Treadwell and trainer Ed Hardy.

John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge

Fastest qualifier AJs High is the 5-2 morning-line choice for Saturday’s 350-yard, $50,490 John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge.

A homebred son of Apollitical Jess racing for Michael C. Teel from the barn of trainer Charley Hunt, AJs High broke his maiden with a convincing two-length win in the last of four trials on August 30. The gelding has earned $36,260 from three outs, and he was a finalist in the April 19, $861,000 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity (RG3).

Second-fastest qualifier WRS Quick Regards is part of a two-horse wagering entry for Gwen Williams’ Williams Racing Stables Inc. A homebred gelding by Chicks Regard trained by Kasey Willis, WRS Quick Regards has won three consecutive races, including the 300-yard, $93,000 Heartland Futurity at Indiana Grand Racecourse on July 26.

Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge

Daytona B, a graded stakes placed son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash, drew post 7 for the 400-yard, $40,680 Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge.

Owned by Gregorio Garcia Garza and trained by Rolando Almanza, Daytona B was acquired for $80,000 at the 2012 Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale. The gelding has earned $44,688 from eight outs, and his race record includes a second-place finish to Mister Big in the 350-yard, $167,000 Sam Houston Derby (G3) on April 19.

Daytona B was disqualified from second and placed fourth in second of two trials on August 29. Yordanis Amaro will ride the gelding in the final.

Other contenders include Wagon Of Roses LVC, a bay gelding by PYC Paint Your Wagon owned and trained by Rodrigo Covarrubias. Wagon Of Roses LVC is undefeated in three outs since he was claimed by Covarrubias for $10,000 at Remington Park on March 30.

Red Cell Prairie Meadows Distance Challenge

Call Her Hero, a Grade 1-placed 5-year-old mare by Valiant Hero owned by Horton Racing LLC, drew post 8 for the 870-yard, $29,700 Red Cell Prairie Meadows Distance Challenge.

Trained by Charley Hunt, Call Her Hero will be ridden by Stormy Smith, and she is the 9-5 morning-line favorite despite her drawing the far-outside post. The mare has banked $20,864 from five starts this season, and her race record includes a third-place finish in last year’s 870-yard, $100,000 Red Cell Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Los Alamitos.

Zoetis Prairie Meadows Starter Allowance Challenge

Willie Mosconi, a 5-year-old Ivory James gelding owned and trained by Jorge Escalera, heads a field of eight in the 350-yard, $18,180 Zoetis Prairie Meadows Starter Allowance Challenge.

Willie Mosconi is coming off of a second-place finish to Win Rabbits Fly in the July 26, 350-yard Rocky Heinzig Stakes at Fair Meadows at Tulsa. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Dylan Williams.
