Stablemates Finish 1-2 in Bank of America Emerald Championship Challenge

AUBURN, WA—AUGUST 21, 2016—Stablemates Sorelli and Stella Corona battled Sunday with Sorelli getting her neck in front at the wire to win the $59,760 Bank of America Emerald Championship Challenge at Emerald Downs. Klassic Secret Br finished a head back to take third in a blanket finish.

Ridden by jockey Eswan Flores, Sorelli completed the 440 yards in :21.794 seconds, a 101-speed index into a 8 mph crosswind. The $27,490 winner's purse boosted her career earnings mark to over $50,000.

Sunday's win also guarantees the Warlock Stable and Kelly Dougan owned Brookstone Bay filly a starting spot in the Grade 1 $350,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship on Saturday, October 29th at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Roddina Barrett conditions the 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly from the Strawfly Special mare Cupids Special Fly. She has compiled a (17) 6-3-2 record.

Barrett also trains runner-up Stella Corona for owner/breeder Jeff Ray. Luis Flores Gonzalez rode the Stel Corona 3-year-old from the Juno Dat Cash mare Yak Ity Yak Go. She earned $11,952 to bring her bankroll total to $32,185.

Owner/trainer Silvestre Sanguino saddled Klassic Secret Br to her third place finish. Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa rode the Fantastic Corona Jr filly is out of the Dash For Cash mare Stylish Secret. Bred in California by Benny Rosset, the brown filly earned $5,976 for the effort.

Rtm Mr Caccia, James First Affair, Bh Country Chrome, Lebron 6, Hes A Bugin, My Best Bunny Yet and Quematierras completed the field.
