PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 8, 2017—Famous Joker, a $100,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, posted the fastest qualifying time for the John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Saturday afternoon after breaking his maiden by 1-¾ lengths.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the three trial races contested, will return to Turf Paradise on Sunday, April 30th to vie for the winner's share of a $25,000-added purse going 350 yards.

Also at stake will be the first qualifying spot to the Grade 2 $150,000 John Deere Juvenile Championship to be contested October 14th at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa.

Ridden by jockey Raul Ramirez, Jr., Famous Joker drew off under steady urging to complete the 350 yards in :18.236 seconds, into a 7-mph headwind. It was the first win in two starts for the son of leading sire One Famous Eagle.

Trainer Ricardo Ramirez conditions the sorrel gelding for owner Yuriana Ramirez. Grant Farms, LLC bred Famous Joker in Louisiana from the multiple graded producing Splash Bac mare Ms Pilot Point. He is a half-brother to All American Futurity(G1) winner and multiple stakes sire Mr Pilito.

The first of five finalists saddled by trainer Matthew Fales was Cowgirl N Up, a three-quarter length winner in the final trial. Jorge Bourdieu rode the Texas Icon filly for owner/breeders Ralph and Carolyn Fales.

Breaking her maiden in her first start, Cowgirl N Up is out of the Canth mare Secret Return. She completed the 350-yard task in :18.253 seconds.

Fales other qualifiers include 6th fastest Hw Double Down Perry, a homebred for Harold Wright; 8th fastest Stay All Nite (also a homebred for Ralph and Carolyn Fales); 9th Dig Deeper and 10th Looker Over, both California homebreds for Martha Wells.

Trainer Leonard Espinoza saddled Tribal Dash Princess to an impressive 2-¼ length win in the opening trial to record the third fastest time of :18.269 seconds.

Also, bred in Louisiana by Grant Farms LLC, Tribal Dash Princess races for owner Leonardo Alvarado Soto. The daughter of champion sire Tempting Dash, from the Feature Mr Jess mare Apache Heart, sold for $12,000 in last summer's Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
