GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALB—AUGUST 5, 2017—Making only his second career start, Jd Wagon Boss romped to three-length win and the top qualifying time for the John Deere Evergreen Juvenile Challenge Saturday at Grande Prairie.

The eight fastest qualifiers, from two trial races, will return to Evergreen Park on Sunday, August 20th to vie for the winners' share of an $18,500-added purse and the winner will also get a starting spot into the $130,000 Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) on Bank of American Challenge Championship Night October 14th at Prairie Meadows.

Jd Wagon was a complete runway in the second trial under jockey Jose Rocha as he completed the 350 yards in :17.743 seconds, into a 15-mph crosswind, to earn a 102-speed index and lock in the top qualifying spot.

The son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon races for owners Buckey and Beverly Stockwell and is trained by Buckey. Jean Dillard bred Jd Wagon Boss in Oklahoma from the Fishers Dash mare Elly Mae, a daughter of world champion See Me Do It.

Jd Wagon Boss broke his maiden by 4-¾ lengths on June 23 at Lethbridge when he earned a 97 speed index while covering 300 yards in :15.597 seconds into a 10-mph crosswind.

Shipping in from California, Stripsteak defeated Stole An Encore by a neck in the opening trail to garner the second fastest time of :17.753 seconds, also a 102-speed index. Scott Sterr rode the Charles Stojan owned son of One Sweet Jess for trainer William Leech.

Bred by Steve Burns, from the Separatist mare Ruths Chris, Stripsteak broke his maiden at Los Alamitos on April 7 then finished sixth in a trial to the Ed Burke Million Futurity on June 4th.

Already a stakes finalist in her first two starts, Stole An Encore held onto the third fastest time of :17.781 seconds, a 101-speed index. Laurie Ferguson conditions the Ivory James Oklahoma-bred filly for owners Ralph Denard and Carrie Suitor. Vaughn and Jill Cook bred the brown filly from the Rare Form mare Race Encore.
