LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 10, 2017—Reliance Ranches' Charm Of Corona and Flash N Bling will be double trouble for their rivals when they headline the $71,280 Bank of America California Challenge Championship at the classic 440-yard distance Sunday at Los Alamitos.

Trained by Mike Robbins, The Charm Of Corona gets top billing after posting a super runner-up effort to BH Lisas Boy in the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity on July 2. Sent off at 29-1 odds, the son of leading sire Corona Cartel led during the first half of the 400-yard Vessels final before BH Lisas Boy caught him in the final 100 yards.

BH Lisas Boy, a three-time graded stakes winner at Los Alamitos this season, won the Bank of America California Challenge last year, but is currently sidelined after having surgery.

To be ridden by Cody Jensen from post number five, The Charm Of Corona now has a great opportunity to have his photo taken following a stakes race, but he’ll have to deal with his talented stablemate, Flash N Bling. Also trained by Mike Robbins, Flash N Bling had a very troubled trip in the Vessels Maturity, bumped repeatedly early, on his way to an out of the money finish. Leading Quarter Horse jockey Jesus Rios Ayala reunites with Flash N Bling after piloting him to an allowance win and a second-place finish in the Vessels trials.

Flash N Bling starts from post number two. Larry Stark’s Jess A Cowboy arrives at Los Alamitos to make his first start since winning the $55,000 regional Challenge Championship at Turf Paradise in late April. The Dejon gelding ran second to BH Lisas Boy in this event last year. Four others will compete.
