Jess Adalida Dominates John Deere Retama Juvenile Final

SELMA, TX—AUGUST 12, 2017—Under jockey Luciano Duenez Jess Adalida drove to a 1-˝ length win over Mystical Jess in the $69,750 John Deere Retama Juvenile Challenge Saturday night at Retama Park. Roses Dancer finished another 1-˝ lengths back in third.

Jess Adalida completed the 350 yards in a quick :17.637 clocking, into a 12-mph headwind, to earn a 102-speed index.

Trainer Antonio Delgado, Sr. saddled the daughter of multiple stakes winner Jess Louisiana Blue for her third consecutive win for owner David Martinez.

Martinez purchased the sorrel filly from her breeder Double Bar S Ranch, LLC for $10,500 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. She is out of the First Down Dash mare Wortherweightingold.

Jess Adalida has compiled a (6) 3-2-0 record this season. She was also second in the West Texas Juvenile in April. The $32,085 Juvenile winners' purse boosted her earnings total to $47,511.

With tonight's win, Jess Adlida also earned a starting spot in the $130,000 Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2) during the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Prairie Meadows October 14.

Josue Ponce saddled runner-up Mystical Jess for owner/breeder Juan Lozano, Jr. Damian Martinez rode the Apollitical Jess filly from the Dash Thru Traffic mare Traffic Juana. Bred in Texas, the sorrel filly earned $13,950 for her effort.

Roses Dancer, a daughter of Chief Corona from the American Brass (TB) mare Rose Three Dreams, races for owner Lovel Blain III and trainer G. Sue Hunt. Gregg Metting is the breeder. Ridden by Modesto Pina, Roses Dancer picked up $6,975.

Tempting Mary, Ivory Noche, The Cartel Warrior, The Lady Is Dealin, Rock On Zoomer, Tres Generales Ftl and Shimmy Dasher completed the field.
