25th Anniversary Challenge Championship Return to West Coast

AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—JANUARY 16, 2018—In 2018, the Bank of America Racing Challenge will celebrate its 25th anniversary and host its Bank of America Challenge Championships at Los Alamitos Race Course. The tentative date for the 2018 Challenge Championships is November 17.

The historic California track will host the Challenge Championships for the 12th time, by far the most frequent host to this premiere event in American Quarter Horse racing.

"It delights me to celebrate the 25th anniversary milestone at Los Alamitos," said AQHA Chief Racing Officer Janet VanBebber. "Los Alamitos boasts such a rich history with the Challenge Championships, it seems appropriate that our milestone year be conducted there."

Los Alamitos last held the event in 2016.

The Bank of America Challenge Championships is the year-end culmination of the Challenge program. Regional races held around the world during the year give horses qualifying berths to the Challenge Championships, which brings together those top horses on a single night of racing.

Horsemen are encouraged to attend the Challenge Open Forum at 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, at Heritage Place to discuss and comment on the Challenge program.
