Champion Imperial Eagle In 'Good Order' After Sunday's Bank of America Championship at Turf Paradise

PHOENIX, AZ—APRIL 30, 2018—Trainer Tony Sedillo reported today that AQHA Racing Champion and All American Futurity(G1) winner Imperial Eagle is in "Good Order" after the Equibase chart reported that he was vanned off following a fifth-place finish in Sunday's $46,980 Bank of America Turf Paradise Challenge Championship.

Imperial Eagle broke well but begin to fade around the midway point of the 440 yard race under rider Joseph Belloc, Jr. He went off as a heavy pre-race favorite after setting the fastest qualifying time in the April 7th trials.

According to Sedillo Imperial Eagle grabbed an ankle during the running of Sunday's race and the track veterinarian noticed the horse was little off coming back and called for the horse ambulance.

"Yeah the track vet noticed that he was off in his gait on the way back to unsaddle after the race," said Sedillo. "It was more of a pre-caution than anything substantial. We got him back to the barn and cleaned him up and tended to his issue with his ankle, and today (Monday) he was fine. He is in good order and we trucked him home today. I looked much worse than it actually was."

The 4-year-old son of leading sire One Famous Eagle has compiled a (20) 11-5-1 record and banked more than $1.86 million. He won the All American Futurity(G1), Southwest Juvenile Championship(G1) and Sunland Park Winter Juvenile at 2 to become the 2016 AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-old and 2-Year-Old Colt.

Last season he won the Mr Jess Perry Stakes and was second in the First Down Dash Stakes, both at Ruidoso Downs, and second in the Hobbs America Derby(G3).

He kicked off his 2018 campaign with a win in the West Texas Maturity(G3) at Sunland Park before setting the fastest time at Turf Paradise.
