Trainer Jose Sanguino saddled the son of leading sire One Sweet Jess to his 11th career win in 23 starts. The gray gelding completed the 250 yards in :13.236 seconds, to earn a 103 speed index. The $7,535 winner's purse boosted For Sweet Jess' earnings mark to $95,968.

Sanguino Racing LLC owns the 5-year-old past winner of the John Deere Grande Prairie Juvenile Challenge, the Portland Meadows Winter Derby, and Sun Downs Derby Challenge. K & R Allred Ranch LLC bred For Sweet Jess in Arizona from the Chicks Beduino mare For Some Cash.

Also a multiple stakes winner, runner-up Mals First Down races for owner-trainer Jose Ariel Lozano. Eric Garcia rode the $79,836 earner by Shazoom from the First Down Dash mare First A Princess. Bill Robbins bred the 10-time winner in Oklahoma. He earned $2,740 for finishing second.

Stakes winner Gone Fast finished a neck back in blanket finish to pick up $1,370 for third. Robert Lawrence conditions the 5-year-old daughter of Meter Me Lucky for owner Sharon Mueller. Phoenix Farms bred the mare in Idaho from the Hawkinson mare Beautiful Ashlee. She has earned $24,657. Jose Figueroa had the riding assignment.

The Cartel Hawk, Lebron 7, Cm Woody Blue, Augie Meyer and Jb Corona Heart completed the field. I Aint Callin was scratched.
