Pyc Disco Closes To Win State Fair AQHA Bonus Challenge

GREAT FALLS, MT—JULY 28, 2018—Oklahoma-bred Pyc Disco closed fast under jockey Brian Beetem to defeat Super Starr by a head in the $9,040 State Fair AQHA Bonus Challenge (not black type) Saturday at Great Falls. One Dashin Man held for third.

Owned-and-trained by Duane Lafferty, Pyc Disco completed the 300 yards in :15.532 seconds, equaling a 98 speed index over a fast racing surface. It was the fifth career win for the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon and the $4,972 winners' purse boosted his bankroll to $29,368.

Randy Hill and VWP Jr., Inc. bred Pyc Disco in Oklahoma from the Check Him Out mare Check This Disco.

Dan Moon's homebred Super Starr put in a big rally to get second. David Greene conditions the Hadtobenuts 3-year-old out of All Star Elite by Red Hot Rhythm.

Winner of the Idaho Cup Futurity last year, Super Starr has earned more than $20,000. Jesus Flores was riding.

One Dashin Man jumped out to a big led but was caught at the wire to earn $1,084 for third. Nathaniel Birdrattler conditions the One Sweet Jess 5-year-old for owner Lydia Tatsey. Dean Frey bred the sorrel gelding in California from the Victory Dash mare Dashing Fly Lady. Damon Lees had the riding call.

My Girls Toasted, Gone Fast, Wait and Downside Embezzler completed the field. Flash A Look was scratched.
