CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 23, 2018—With an impressive performance under jockey Paul Nieto, Rock A Billy earned a second shot at the Grade 1 $100,000-est. Cox Ranch Distance Challenge Championship to be run on Bank of America Challenge Championships Night, November 17th at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Last year the son of Rock Solid Jess finished sixth in the Distance Challenge Championship(G1) at Prairie Meadows.

Trainer Tammy Johnson saddled the trifecta in Sunday's $31,950 AQHA Will Rogers Distance Challenge with Rock A Billy defeating stablemates Madewell by 1-˝ lengths Jess A Hilbily Bone by 3 lengths.

Owned by Rockin J Running Horses, Rock A Billy completed the 870 yards in a quick :45.526 clocking, a 101 speed index over a fast racing surface. It was the seventh win in 33 starts for the 5-year-old Texas homebred from the Game Patriot mare Imaginiff.

A multiple stakes winner, Rock A Billy picked up $15,656 to push his bankroll to $123,641.

Johnson saddled runner-up Madewell for owner/breeders' Ray and Davy Madewell. The second-place effort also earns the 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred son of Jess Jones a starting spot in the 2018 Distance Championship(G1) at Los Alamitos.

Third in last year's Will Rogers Distance Challenge, Madewell earned $6,710 for the effort. Andrew Samanigo had the riding call aboard the multiple stakes-placed earner of $42,09. The gelding is out the A Streak Of Cash mare Streakin Peacock.

Multiple graded winner Jess A Hilbily Bone, a 7-year-old full sibling to Rock A Billy, picked up $3,355 for third. Also trained by Johnson and bred-and-owned by Rockin J Running Horses, the Rock Solid Jess gelding has compiled a (45) 10-5-10 record and earned nearly $190,000. Randy Wilson was riding.

Srd Red Bobcat, Fds Of Seattle, Coronas Can Man and Winner Whisper completed the field. Let There Be Sound was scratched.
