HOUSTON, TX—APRIL 18, 2019—Elite Oilfield Services’ EOS A Political Win, a graded stakes winning son of Apollitical Jess, will make his 4-year-old season debut in Saturday’s 440-yard Bank of America Sam Houston Challenge (G2) trials at Sam Houston Race Park.
Trained by Orlando Orozco, EOS A Political Win will be making his first official start since October 6, when the stallion scored a wire-to-wire, half-length win in the 440-yard, $163,000 Dash For Cash Derby (G3) at Lone Star Park. EOS A Political Win is coming off of a sophomore campaign during which he won five of eight starts and earned $196,049.
EOS A Political Win drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jose A. Alvarez in the second of two trials. His six opponents in the first heat include Shannon Fisher’s SF Hot Pass, a 6-year-old Ivory James gelding trained by Leon Bard. SF Hot Pass ended his 5-year-old season with a four-race win streak that included a head victory in the October 13, 440-yard Refrigerator Handicap (G1) at Lone Star Park.
SF Hot Pass drew post 7 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $50,000-added Bank of America Sam Houston Challenge final on May 11.
