True Copy Prevails In ARC Distaff Evergreen Challenge Stakes

GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALB—AUGUST 23, 2019—Coming off a win in the Grande Prairie Sprint Stakes last month, graded stakes winner True Copy held off First Prize Cruise to win the $22,253(US) ARC Distaff Evergreen Challenge Stakes by a neck Friday night at Evergreen Park.

Ridden by jockey Ricardo Moreno, True Copy completed the 400 yards in :20.480 seconds into a 15 mph crosswind. It was the 11th win in 19 starts for the daughter of Tr Dasher. The $11,216(US) winner's purse boosted the gray filly's earnings total to $79,711.

Trainer William Leech saddled True Copy for owner Charles G. Stojan. Edward C. Allred bred the filly in California from the Separatist mare Realistically.

Tonight's ARC Distaff win also includes a starting spot in the $100,000-est. ARC Distaff Challenge Championship(G1) to be run October 26th on Bank of America Challenge Championship night at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Tom Kenway's homebred First Prize Cruise picked up $4,784(US) for finishing second. D.I. Benitez rode the daughter of First Prize Doc who is also trained by Kenway. First Prize Cruise is out of Eye Take Time mare Eye Cruise. The stakes winning filly has earned $30,544.

Deanne Davies owned-and-trained Atomic Blondie finished 1-˝ lengths off the leaders in third. Carl Hebert rode the stakes winning daughter of Birdzilla (TB) from the Dashing Val mare Sables Val. Bred in Alberta by Sazwan Speed Horses, Atomic Blonde earned $2,477(US) for the effort.

Shez My Hero, Blink And Shes Gone and Knotty Knita completed the field. High Glass Black was scratched.
