ALTOONA, IA-—AUGUST 26, 2019—Jess Wagon P, a stakes-winning daughter of champion Mr Jess Perry owned and trained by Randy Hill, is one of 13 3-year-olds entered in Friday’s 400-yard Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge trials.
Jess Wagon P has earned $42,597 from six starts this year, and his season resume includes a victory at odds of 19-1 in the 400-yard, $78,050 Canterbury Park Derby on July 7. The filly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Edwuin Lujan in the first of two trials.
Jeff State’s High Time To Fly will make his season debut in the second heat. A gelded son of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Alex Wessels, High Time To Fly ended his 2-year-old campaign with a half-length victory as the 8-5 favorite in the 350-yard, $149,000 Jim Bader Futurity (R) at Prairie Meadows.
High Time To Fly drew post 7 and will be ridden by Stormy Smith.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the September 14, $35,000-added Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge final.
