Apollitical Mogul Prevails In Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 14, 2019—Under jockey Justin Shepard post time favorite Apollitical Mogul swerved out at the start but rallied to defeat Jess Wagon P by three-quarters in the $50,430 Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge Saturday afternoon. Mansory finished another three-quarters back for third.

Saddled by trainer Jason Olmstead, Apollitical Mogul completed the 400 yards in :19.965 seconds on a muddy (sealed) racetrack to equal a 90 speed index into a 10 mph headwind.

It was the fifth career win for the Texas-bred daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess owned by Tom Maher. Bred by Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC, from the Corona Cartel mare Cash Cartel, Apollitical Mogul has compiled a (16) 5-6-2 record and today's winner's purse boosted his bankroll to $104,150.

In addition the bay filly also earned a starting spot in the October 26th $150,000-est. Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G3) at The Downs at Albuquerque during the Bank of America Challenge Championships.

Trainer Stacy Charette-Hill saddled runner-up Jess Wagon P for her husband Randy Hill. Jorge Torres rode the Mr Jess Perry filly out of Ride My Wagon by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Michael Pohl bred the Canterbury Park QH Derby winner in Texas. She has earned $63.836.

Jason Olmstead also trains third-place finisher Mansory, a son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James, for owner Summer Run Inc. Bobby D. Cox bred the gray gelding out of Sinuous by Mr Jess Perry in Texas. The $5,086 Adequan payday brings Mansory's earnings total to $35,268.

Thisbetterwork, High Time To Fly, Maghelene, Bhr Flashing Effort and First High Rate completed the field. The Cookie Cartel and Wonderland were scratched.
