Graded stakes winners Ms Esther r and Madewell will face off again in Sunday’s 870-yard, $23,500 AQHA Remington Park Distance Challenge Stakes (G2).

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 23, 2020—A pair of graded stakes winners, Ms Esther and Madewell, will renew their rivalry in Sunday’s 870-yard, $23,500 AQHA Remington Park Distance Challenge Stakes (G2).

A 6-year-old daughter of the Smoke Glacken (TB) stallion Afrashad (TB) owned and trained by Jordan Baumann, Ms Esther is coming off of a second-place finish, one length behind fastest qualifier Higher Flyin Eagle, in the first of two trials on April 11. The mare has earned $163,547 from 16 starts, and her eight wins include victories in last year’s Pauls Valley Stakes (G2) and AQHA Remington Park Distance Challenge (G3).

Ms Esther drew post 6 and will be ridden by Benito Baca.

Madewell is a homebred 6-year-old son of Mr Jess Perry stallion Jess Jones. Trained by Bernard Baca for owners Ray L. Madewell and Davy Madewell, the sorrel gelding has won four of 23 outs, including last year’s Grade 2, 870-yard Remington Distance Championship, and he has banked $136,245.

Madewell drew post 3 and will be ridden by Stormy Smith.

The winner of this race will earn a berth in this year’s 870-yard, $100,000 AQHA Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque Downs. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments:
