RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 28, 2020—Forty 2-year-olds, headed by Peves Blue Duck, are entered in Friday’s 350-yard John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge trials at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack.

A gelded son of the One Famous Eagle stallion Moonin The Eagle, Peves Blue Duck is trained by Eddie D. Willis for owner Regina Laymon. Peves Blue Duck earned $18,879 from four races during the Remington Park spring meet, and he ran fourth, three-quarters of a length behind winner Best Of You, in the 330-yard, $49,000 Laico Bird Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds on April 18.

Peves Blue Duck drew post 8 and will be ridden by Jimmy Dean Brooks in the first of four trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 15, $25,000-added John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge final. The winner of the final will earn a berth in the October 24 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Albuquerque Downs.
