Idaho Distaff, Juvenile Challenge Stakes Set for Sunday

POCATELLO, ID—SEPTEMBER 18, 2020vRon Moosman’s JR Prissys Blood, a gray daughter of Apollitical Blood trained by Riley Moosman, is the 7-5 morning-line favorite for Sunday’s 400-yard, $33,000 ARC Idaho Distaff Challenge Stakes at Pocatello Downs.

JR Prissys Blood is coming off of a clear two-length victory in a 300-yard, $11,350 dash at Wyoming Downs, as the 3-year-old filly broke the track record with a clocking of :15.021. JR Prissys Blood has earned $70,181 from 11 outs, and her six wins include last year’s Cowboy State Futurity at Energy Downs.

JR Prissys Blood drew post 7 and will be ridden by Jesus Valenzuela. Her seven opponents on Sunday include Loco Ocho, a homebred 4-year-old daughter of The Louisiana Cartel trained by Garth Blattner for owners Les and Darla Barlow. Loco Ocho has won three of five starts this year, including the May 24, $28,000 ARC Weber Downs Distaff Challenge.

Loco Ocho drew post 2 and will be ridden by Never Marin.

Also on Sunday, 10 2-year-olds are entered back in the 350-yard, $45,000 John Deere Idaho Juvenile Challenge Stakes.

Morning-line favorite The Prize Ferarri set the fastest qualifying time with his one-length win in the first of two trials on September 5. The runner-up in the July 31, $96,000 Bitterroot Futurity (R) at Pocatello Downs, the gelded son of The Louisiana Cartel and $22,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale is trained by Mark Hanson for owners RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody.

The Prize Ferarri has won three of five outs and has banked $26,021. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Jesus Canales.

Other contenders include Josselin Reyes Corral’s Summon, a son of Valiant Hero who broke his maiden in a Oklahoma Futurity (G2) trial at Remington Park in his debut on March 7.A $7,500 buy at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the sorrel colt drew post 10 and will be ridden by Carlos Guillen Chacon for trainer Julio Corral.

The winners of these stakes will earn berths in the October 24 Bank of America Challenge Championships at Albuquerque Downs.
