LOS ALAMITOS, CA—AUGUST 6, 2012—Double Bar S Ranch’s 8-year-old superstar gelding Jess You And I is back in training at Los Alamitos and is being pointed to run in the $100,000 Go Man Go Handicap on Sunday, September 23.
Trained by Paul Jones, Jess You And I won consecutive runnings of the Go Man Go in 2008-09 and now has his sights set in becoming the first ever three-time winner of the this race. It could be a monumental task, as the Go Man Go could be one of the races of the year. In addition to Jess You And I, recent Governor’s Cup Derby winner Terrific Synergy is expected to be part of the field. The recently arrived World Champion Cold Cash 123 could also compete in the Go Man Go.
The Go Man Go will award its winner an automatic berth to the Grade 1 Champion of Champions.
If Jess You And I can win the Go Man Go for a record third time, he’ll earn a record tying fifth Champion of Champions berth. The legendary Refrigerator is the only horse to have raced five times in the Champion of Champions.Jess You And I won the Champion of Champions in 2008 and was eighth in the 2009 running. He has finished fourth in the last two runnings of the Champion of Champions. Whosleavingwho is the only other horse to have started four times in the Champion of Champions.

He is currently $415,492 shy of catching Stolis Winner to become Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading money winner. The Feature Mr Jess gelding does have a long way to go to become the all-time leader in earnings, but he would do it if he can win the Go Man Go plus this year’s Champion of Champions. A multiple AQHA Champion, Jess You And I won his trial to the Los Alamitos Winter Championship and was seventh in the Winter Championship final in his two starts this year.
