Ajax Cards Two Trials For Ontario Sires Maturity on Tuesday

AJAX, ONT—JUNE 17, 2013—Ajax Downs will host two trials on Tuesday's race card for the Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity. The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Canadian raceway on Tuesday, July 2 and vie for the winner's share of a $38,200 purse over 330 yards.

Mels Dash has been installed as the 9-2 morning-line favorite in trial #1 (Race 6). The 5-year-old Down Home Dash races for Double Mac Racing and is trained by Barry Wood. Tony Phillips will be aboard the gelding that has won four of 24 lifetime starts and earned $86,873. He comes into the trials off two second place efforts in two starts this season at Ajax Downs.

Kissmystarrydash, winning at Ajax Downs last season, will head the second trial for trainer Don Reid.

Christine Tavares coupled entry of Misseditbyonehour and Hurricane Alexandra will open at 3-1 off a three-quarter length win by Hurricane Alexandra in her last start on June 4. The Sugarman Perry 4-year-old has won two of 16 lifetime starts and earned $43,293. Trainer Joe Tavares will send out the two 4-year-old mares.

DK Training Centre's stakes-placed Kissmystarrydash is set at 9-2 in the second trial (Race 7) for trainer Don Reid. Unplaced in his only start this year, the Star Fire Dash gelding has won three of eight starts and earned $56,320.

Stakes winner Not Looking To Shake (3-1) will be hoping for his second win in as many starts this season from the #4 position for owner/breeder Christine Tavares. Joe Tavares will saddle the seven-time winner by Junos Back. The 5-year-old has earned $96,556.
