ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 2, 2014— The Senor trials have drawn 30 colts and geldings, including Gary L. Thompson’s Jess Bordeaux. A sorrel son of Jesse James Jr trained by Victor Escobar, Jess Bordeaux is coming off of a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard, $392,000 Zia Futurity (RG1) at Ruidoso Downs on July 27.

L. Salvador Martinez has been named to ride Jess Bordeaux from post 8 in the third of three trials.

Thompson and Escobar will also be represented by Dungarees Six, a stakes-winning Sixes Royal gelding who will be ridden by Martinez from post 10 in the first heat. Dungarees Six has earned $30,160 from five outs, and his race record includes a victory in the 300-yard, $45,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes (R) at Sunland Park on April 5.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $50,000-added New Mexico State Fair Senor Futurity final on September 20.

The Senorita Futurity trials have attracted 33 fillies. Regal First Moon, a First Moonflash filly racing for Diamond Racing Stables LLC and trained by Umberto Belloc, will be making her first start since May 25, when she ran second in the 350-yard New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG2) at SunRay Park.

Jose Luis Enriquez will ride Regal First Moon from post 5 in the third of four trials.
