LOS ALAMITOS, CA— OCTOBER 2, 2014—Tony Greaves’ PF Flyair will look to become the first back-to-back winner of $25,000 Blane Schvaneveldt Handicap when he headlines a strong field of seven in the 400 event.

Trained by Susan Hadley and ridden by her son, Jordan, PF Flyair enjoyed a 3/4 length win in last year’s Schvaneveldt. The victory culminated a strong season for the Utah-bred son of Dashair, as he finished the 2013 season with five wins from seven starts. PF Flyair comes into Friday’s Schvaneveldt after running third to the always tough Grade 1 winner Vodka With Ice in the Bank of America Northwest Championship at Les Bois Park.

JR Stables LLC’s Jr Dynasty Mountain, a major stakes winner at Los Alamitos in 2013, will another of the strong sprinters that will see action in Friday’s Schvaneveldt Handicap. Jr Dynasty Mountain will come into the race as the richest horse in the field with $190,336 with a good portion of that amount coming when he won the $200,000 Adequan Derby Challenge during Bank of America Challenge Night at Los Alamitos last year.

The horse by FDD Dynasty also ran second in the 2012 $392,000 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity. He’ll come into this race with a tremendous record of seven wins in 12 career starts. Cesar De Alba will pilot the 4-year-old sprinter for trainer Paul Jones.

Robert Hickman’s Margaritas N Coronas, a multiple stakes winner at Los Alamitos, will look to score in the main event for older horses of the Intermountain Stakes racing series when he also takes part of the Schvaneveldt Handicap.

A seven-time winner in his racing career, Margaritas N Coronas has entered the Los Alamitos golden circle after previous wins in The Plan Handicap and John Ward Handicap. A victory in the Blane Schvaneveldt would make Margaritas N Coronas the first three-time winner in the Intermountain series. Cruz Mendez will ride the Corona Czech gelding for trainer Bret Vickery.

The field will also feature Gallant Mystic, the runner-up in last year’s Schvaneveldt, multiple stakes winner Josie Bassett, Hadtobenuts Derby winner Wilmas Alright Now, and TLM Dream. Courtesy of www.losalamitos.com.
