GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 30, 2014—A field of eight Texas-bred sprinters, topped by morning-line favorite JRC Callas First, has been entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $25,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes (RG3) at Lone Star Park.
A 4-year-old Winners Award gelding racing for Dana and Brian Stroud, JRC Callas First has won five consecutive races, including three stakes during this streak. JRC Callas First is coming off of a one-length victory in the 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) at Lone Star on October 4.
JRC Callas First drew post 4 and will be ridden by Damian Martinez in the B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes.
Other contenders include Mercy Hinklin’s Horse Farm’s Jetblack Gold Moment, a stakes-winning homebred 4-year-old Jet Black Patriot mare who drew the rail post.
