LOS ALAMITOS, CA—NOVEMBER 21, 2014—Five Bar Cartel, a Grade 1 winning Corona Cartel colt owned by San Gregorio Racing Stables Inc., drew post 9 for Saturday’s 400-yard, $972,100 Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1).

The Super Derby will run as a non-wagering race at the end of Los Alamitos’ 10-race program. Estimated post time is 10:06 p.m. (PST).

Five Bar Cartel is coming off of a half-length victory as the 9-10 favorite in his Super Derby trial on October 12. The colt campaigned at Ruidoso Downs last summer, where he ran second, a half of a length behind winner Too Flash For You, in the 440-yard, $1.921-million All American Derby (G1).

Last year's Champion 2-Year-Old Colt, Five Bar Cartel, is trained by Danny Montes. The Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1) winner will be ridden by Saul Ramirez Jr. in the Super Derby final.

Fastest qualifier Foose Cash Sr brings a four-race win streak into Saturday’s race. In his last 2-year-old start, the gelded son of champion Foose outran his 25-1 odds to win the 400-yard, $1,990,000 Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity (G1).

Foose Cash Sr races for La Presita LLC, San Gregorio and World Champion from the barn of trainer Eloy Navarro. Eduardo Nicasio will ride the gelding from post 10 on Saturday.

One of the country’s richest Quarter Horse races for sophomores, the Los Alamitos Super Derby was originally scheduled to be run on November 1. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments—
