Wagon Tales Makes California Debut in A Ransom Handicap

LOS ALAMITOS, CA--DECEMBER 19, 2014--Wagon Tales, a Grade 1-placed Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt owned by Michael and Donalda Pohl, will make his first career start at Los Alamitos in Saturday’s 350-yard, $25,000 A Ransom Handicap for 3-year-olds.

One of two entries from the barn of 12-time AQHA champion trainer Paul Jones, Wagon Tales is coming off of a seventh-place finish in a 440-yard Dash For Cash Derby (G3) trial at Lone Star Park on September 28. Last year, the colt ran third in both the 440-yard, $2.6-million All American Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs, and 350-yard, $1.075-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park.

Wagon Tales drew post 8 and will be ridden by Ramon Sanchez in the A Ransom.

Other contenders in the nine-horse field include morning-line favorite Mr Corona Cartel. A son of Corona Cartel trained by Eloy Navarro for owners San Gregorio Racing Stable Inc. and World Champion Racing Stable Inc., Mr Corona Cartel was a finalist in the November 22, $972,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1). The gelding’s race record includes a second-place finish to Turbulent Times in last year’s $1.045-million Golden State Million Futurity (G1).

Eduardo Nicasio will ride Mr Corona Cartel from post 9.
