OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 11, 2015—A total of 221 two-year-olds, topped by graded stakes winners Tee Chic and Regard With Respect, has been entered in this week’s 350-yard Heritage Place Futurity (G1) trials, to be held today (Monday) and Tuesday at Remington Park.
The trials were originally set for Friday and Saturday but due to weather concerns in the Oklahoma City area were delayed.
A homebred gray son of Chicks Regard racing for Nancy Powell, Regard With Respect is coming off of a neck victory at odds of 17-1 in the 330-yard, $827,000 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity (RG3) on April 18. The gelding has won both of his outs and has earned $339,638.
Tee Chic, the winner of the 300-yard, $410,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2) on March 21, drew post 7 in the eighth of 12 heats on Tuesday. A homebred son of Jumpn Chic racing for Francisco J. Garza, the gelding is trained by R.L. “Rick” Robinson and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon on Saturday.
The five fastest qualifiers from each night’s trials will meet in the $1-million Heritage Place Futurity final on May 30.
This years total Heritage Place Futurity(G1) gross purse is $1,290,000 which includes $120,000 paid in trial purses leaving the total amount distributed to owners in finals purse of $1,170,000, paid out as follows:
