ARDMORE, OK—JUNE 29, 2016—Triangle Sales, a division of AuctionWare LLC, is working together with Future Fortunes, a leading barrel horse stallion incentive program, to implement a barrel event and sale Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. The Triangle Sales Barrel Classic will be held at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum in Ardmore and will feature a Future Fortunes Select sale, barrel exhibition and an open 4-D barrel race.

The event is part of a heavy fall calendar for Triangle Sales, which regularly hosts sales in Shawnee, Okla. The schedule includes the Barrel Classic, as well as an upcoming Fall Sale and Versatility Ranch Competition Oct. 27-29 in Shawnee, and McPhail Ranch Horse Dispersal, in Abilene, Texas, Oct. 9.

Future Fortunes, established in 2004, collectively unites one of the country’s most select groups of stallion owners for the promotion of breeding and incentive opportunities within the barrel horse industry. Its successful incentive program continues to grow, with more than 15,000 horses currently enrolled for an eligible payout of more than $600,000 in cash. Eligible events now span more than 55 venues in the United States and two in Canada.

The three-day Triangle Sales Barrel Classic will begin Fri., Sept. 30 with barrel exhibitions throughout the day and a $1,500-added open 4-D barrel race hosted by 6666 Ranch, as well as an AQHA $1,500-added bonus (junior, senior, amateur, select) barrel race beginning at 3 p.m.

The Triangle Future Fortunes Select Sale will begin Sat., Oct. 1 at noon. Horses eligible for the sale include Future Fortunes stallions, those sired by Future Fortunes stallions— and mares in foal to Future Fortunes stallions. Barrel exhibitions, followed by demonstrations will be held Saturday morning prior to the sale.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, a $3,500-added open 4-D barrel race hosted by 6666 Ranch and an AQHA $3,500-added bonus (junior, senior, amateur, select, youth) barrel race will be held. “This is the first time anybody has tried to have a barrel sale based on a stallion incentive program,” said Jim Ware, owner of Triangle Sales. “I think it is a great opportunity both in terms of the show and the sale. It appears to me that there is a real need within the industry for this.”

Future Fortunes has had stallions on their waiting list since 2005, and has provided a total incentive payout of $3.5 million since its inception. Mary Ellen Hickman was the primary founder of the group and says this sale opportunity is something Future Fortunes members have been looking to for several years.

“About five years into the program, I had various Future Fortunes owners wanting me to put on a sale for Future Fortunes horses,” Hickman said. “At the time, that didn’t interest me and wasn’t my area of experience, but I had had experience with the Triangle Sales staff and have been really impressed with how they conduct their sales.”

“I’m really excited about this sale and relationship. I think the timing is perfect, and I like the location.”

Sale consignments are currently open through Aug. 12, and the full event will feature $28,000 in total added and bonus money. Ware says while involvement in an exclusive barrel event and sale is a new experience for him he is excited for the opportunity.

“For me, this will be a new frontier for sales management unlike anything else we’ve ever done,” Ware said. “I will be the first one to tell anyone that I am not as familiar with the barrel horse business as other disciplines. But we are trying to learn, and think that if people have a need, we can try our best to fulfill that need.”
