Median Rises In Quarter Horse Session of Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 20, 2016—Ruidoso Horse Sale Company completed their 2016 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Quarter Horse Yearlings with a second session on Saturday night.

Median numbers rose 7% over last year to $8,000 compared to $7,500 in 2015. The overall Quarter Horse Yearlings saw 140 head of the 182 offered gross $1,682,300, compared to 133 head sold in in 2015 for $1,722,000. The sale's Quarter Horse average of $12,016 was slightly down compared to $12,947 in 2015.

Jack Manning was the sale's leading buyer, signing the tickets on the two high sellers at $60,000 apiece.

In the opening session (Friday) Manning paid $60,000 for the high-seller, Hip 88 He Be Flashy, a son of leading New Mexico sire First Moonflash from the consignment of Double LL Farms, Agent. The sorrel colt is out of the stakes winning Corona Caliente mare Seven Coronas, the dam of two stakes horses.

In Saturday's session Manning paid $60,000 for Hip 178 Wild Daddy, a Big Daddy Cartel half-brother to Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Wild Six. MJ Farms, Agent, consigned the sorrel gelding out of Wild Vines, by The Signature.

Another Big Daddy Cartel yearling, Hip 158 CD Daddys Home brought the third highest price of $47,000 from Stan Sigman. Consigned by Cindy Dick, the sorrel filly if from the first crop of Roughian, a Valiant Hero half-sister to G2 winner Templar Night. The second dam is the G1 placed Mr Jess Perry mare Dash Of Perry.

Following Manning as leading buyer at $120,000 for two yearlings were Bella Valenzuela who had three purchases totaling $63,500 and Paul Blanchard and R.D. Hubbard who had three yearlings gross $56,500.

MJ Farms, Agent was the sale's leading Quarter Horse consignor or agent with 34 head grossing $627,000. Double LL Farms, Agent sold 34 Quarter Horse yearlings for $358,600 and Cindy Dick had five yearlings gross $117,200.

First crop sire Big Daddy Cartel led all Quarter Horse sires (by average with two or more sold), with 25 yearlings averaging $20,960 each. Leading sire First Moonflash had 30 yearlings average $13,717 and Chicks Regard had eight yearlings average $13,550.

Tres Seis Nueve was the leading "first crop sale sire" (by average with two or more sold), with two yearling for $8,100 average.
