OPELOUSAS, LA—SEPTEMBER 29, 2016—Multiple stakes winner Open Me A Corona is one of seven Louisiana-bred sprinters entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $30,000 Amelia Belle Stakes (R) at Evangeline Downs.
A 6-year-old Coronas Leaving You stallion trained by Bobby Martinez for owners Charles Forbes Jr. and Tommy Hays, Open Me A Corona will be stretching out in distance off of his clear 1 1/2-length victory in the 250-yard, $50,000 Lakeview Dash Stakes (R) at Fair Grounds Racecourse on September 3. Open Me A Corona has won three stakes this season, including the 440-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2) at Delta Downs on July 9.
Open Me A Corona has won 15 of 19 outs and has banked $882,758. The stallion drew post 5 and will be ridden by David Alvarez.
