Multiple stakes winner Running Dragon will face a full field in Sunday’s 400-yard, $85,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association Stakes (RG2) for state-bred sophomores at Sunland Park.

Running Dragon is Morning-Line Choice in NMHBA Stakes

SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 15, 2017—Running Dragon, a homebred daughter of Zulu Dragon racing for By By JJ LLC and a multiple graded stakes winner, is the 7-5 morning-line favorite for Sunday’s 400-yard, $85,000 New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association Stakes (RG2) for state-bred sophomores at Sunland Park.

Trained by Samuel Robledo, Running Dragon is coming off of a half-length victory in the January 15, 400-yard Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) at Sunland. All told, the filly has won eight of 10 starts, including three graded stakes, and has earned $470,641.

Running Dragon drew post 5 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos. The filly’s eight opponents include A Super Sonic Boom, a homebred Big Daddy Cartel colt trained by Miguel Castillo for owner Hubaldo Solis of Peralta, New Mexico. A Super Sonic Boom is coming off of a juvenile campaign during which he scored a neck victory in the 350-yard New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3) at SunRay Park.

A Super Sonic Boom drew post 9 and will be ridden by Alejandro Medellin.
