OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 10, 2017—So Knud, a training race winner on February 16, is one of 168 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 300-yard Oklahoma Futurity (G3) trials at Remington Park.
To accommodate 17 heats, Remington Park has moved first post time up to 4 p.m. (CST). The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $525,050 Oklahoma Futurity final on March 25.
So Knud is a gelded son of the First Down Dash stallion Knud With Wings trained by Guillermo Valdivia for owner Jose Antonio Mora-Chavez. The gelding won a 250-yard schooling race by one length in :13.52, the fastest winning time from eight such races on February 16.
So Knud drew post 9 and will be ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. in the fifth trial.
Rodriguez Racing’s Dynamix, a Dominyun filly trained by Esdgar Moreno, will be ridden by Edgar Martinez from post 5 in the 14th heat. An $8,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Dynamix won a 250-yard schooling race by a half of a length in :13.47 on February 15.
Reliance Ranches’ Hazel Dazel, a three-quarter length training race winner on February 15, drew post 7 and will be ridden by Stormy Smith for trainer Mike Robbins. A homebred daughter of Corona Cartel, the filly won her schooling race in :13.55.
