Heritage Place Juvenile winner Good Captain Pepper is one of the 3-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 350-yard Oklahoma Derby (G3) trials at Remington Park.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 11, 2017—Carlos Lozano’s Good Captain Pepper, a stakes winner during his juvenile season, is one of 59 3-year-olds entered in Sunday’s 350-yard Oklahoma Derby (G3) trials at Remington Park.

A gelded son of Captain Courage trained by Eddie D. Willis, Good Captain Pepper will be making his 2017 debut in the last of six heats. Good Captain Pepper has earned $90,210 from five starts, and his three wins include a neck victory in last year’s 350-yard, $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Remington.

Good Captain Pepper’s resume includes a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Coronas First Diva, in the 300-yard, $440,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G3). The gelding drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jimmy Dean Brooks.

Tommy The Train will also be making his sophomore debut in Sunday’s trials. A son of Freighttrain B trained by Larry Sharp for owners Jon Barley, Brant Barley, and Brad Sharp, the gelding ended his 2-year-old campaign with a three-race win streak that included a nose victory in the 350-yard, $139,000 Governor’s Stakes at Indiana Grand.

Tommy The Train drew post 9 and will be ridden by David Pinon in the first trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the March 25, $100,000-added Oklahoma Derby final.
