Four Races For 2-Year-Old Slated For Friday At Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 14, 2017—Twenty-eight 2-year-olds will make their racing debuts on Friday night as part of four races that will be contested during the evening’s eight race card. First post is 7 p.m.

The juvenile races have been split into two divisions - a pair of races for fillies and a pair for colts and geldings. Each of the four races will be contested at 300 yards.

The first race for 2-year-olds is scheduled as the third race on the card and will include Quarter K, Inc’s One Dashing Chick, a filly by One Dashing Eagle and out of PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and Breeders Derby winner Ima Chickie Two, and Paul Jones and Lazy Creek Ranch’s Fosse, a filly by Foose and out of AQHA champion aged mare Check N Fetch. Fosse posted the fifth fastest of 43 gate workouts on March 28.

The boys will first see action in race five and will be headed by Paulo Otavio Freire MacEdo’s Luxor Of Apppeals MV, a gelding by Tres Seis out of the stakes winner Queen Of Appeals. She’s the mother of AQHA aged champion and Champion of Champions winner Good Reason SA.

Ron Hartley’s The Revenant, a gelding by Favorite Cartel out of Remember Me Rose, will also be in action in this event. The great Remember Me Rose earned over $820,000 in her racing career and won the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby.

Ed Allred’s Ynot Me, also sired by Favorite Cartel, will head the sixth race. She’s a half-sister to Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby winner Ynot Walk. The boys will be back in race seven with Corona Thru Fire, a Walk Thru Fire colt out of Corona Perfection leading the field. He’s a half-brother to Louisiana Senator, which won the Grade 1 Remington Park Championship, Grade 1 Refrigerator Handicap and Grade 1 Leo Handicap.

The richest race on the card will feature 3-yer-old fillies and mares racing in a $12,600 allowance event at 300 yards. Kolleen Ledgerwood’s Scholarly, which just missed qualifying to the La Primera Del Ano Derby and won the California Breeders Freshman Stakes for fillies, will headthe eighth race feature. Unfinished Biz and Lady Perry On Fire, which ran second and third in the Corona Kool Handicap recently, will also race.
