OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 11, 2017—A total of 218 juveniles has been entered in this weekend’s Heritage Place Futurity (G1) trials at Remington Park.

Twelve 350-yard heats will be contested on Friday and Saturday. The 10 fastest qualifiers -- five from Friday’s heats and five from Saturday’s -- will meet in the $1-million (est.) final on June 3. The Heritage Place Futurity is the richest race for any breed in the state of Oklahoma.

Weetonas Lafawn, a stakes-winning daughter of Valiant Hero owned and trained by Dustin Cox, will be ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. from post 6 in the seventh heat on Friday. A $27,000 buy at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the filly has earned $49,006 from three outs, and her two wins include a neck victory in the 330-yard, $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Invitational Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-breds on April 23.

Dunn Ranch’s My Southern Dynasty, a colt by champion Fdd Dynasty trained by Charles "Duk" Shults, drew post 4 and will be ridden by Jesus Salazar in Friday’s fourth trial. My Southern Dynasty has won one of his three outs and has banked $57,189, and he is coming off of a sixth-place finish, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner La Vencedora, in the 330-yard, $1.002-million Remington Park Futurity (RG2) for Oklahoma-breds on April 22.

A pair of graded stakes placed 2-year-olds, Pyc Fun N Fancy and Hez Our Boy, will headline Saturday’s trials. Pyc Fun N Fancy will be stretching out in distance off of his victory in the 330-yard, $60,000 Laico Bird Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-bred juveniles on April 22. Trained by Luz Chavira for owner Jose E. Guzman, the Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt’s resume includes a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Ima China Rush, in the 300-yard, $525,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G3) on March 25.

Pyc Fun N Fancy drew post 6 and will be ridden by Daniel Torres in the ninth trial.

Hez Our Boy will be making his first start since March 22, when the gray Hez Our Secret gelding ran third, a half of a length behind winner Together To The End, in the 300-yard, $234,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs. Hez Our Boy is trained by Josue Ponce for owner Almada Racing.

Jose A. Alvarez will ride Hez Our Boy from post 3 in the third trial.
