IDAHO FALLS, ID—JUNE 8, 2017—A total of 43 juveniles, headed by stakes winners Kool Odds and Wagonfullofdividends, has been entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Bitterroot Futurity (R) trials at Sandy Downs.
The 7-5 morning-line favorite in the first of six heats, Kool Odds is trained by Mark Hanson for owners Hanson Racing LLC and Robin D. Dunn. The Favorite Cartel colt broke his maiden with a half-length victory in the 300-yard, $28,000 Pot O’ Gold Futurity at Sun Downs in Kennewick, Washington, on May 7.
Mark Hanson will also send out Wagonfullofdividends, a bay son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon campaigned by RTM Stables LLC and Shauna Dunn. The colt has won both of his outs, including the 330-yard, $30,000 Rocky Mountain Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs on May 29, and he has earned $14,100.
Eddie Aceves will ride Wagonfullofdividends from post 2 in the sixth trial.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the June 24, $70,000-added Bitterroot Futurity.
Also on Saturday, multiple stakes winner Long Lost Buddy is one of 19 sophomores entered in two 400-yard Bitterroot Derby (R) trials.
Long Lost Buddy is the 5-2 morning-line favorite in the first heat. Trained by Mark Hanson for owners RTM Stables LLC, Ben McKinney and Richard Gardner, the Favorite Cartel gelding has won his last five races, including last year’s 350-yard, $119,000 Bitterroot Futurity (R).
Long Lost Buddy will be ridden by Uriel Dominguez from post 2.
The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s Bitterroot Derby trials will meet in the $15,000-added final on June 24.
