AURORA, CO—JUNE 28, 2017—Two sets of Colorado-bred trials -- one for the Lucille Rowe Derby (R) and the other for the Cherry Creek Futurity (R) -- will dominate the Friday racing program at Arapahoe Park.

A total of 24 state-bred 3-year-olds, topped by local futurity winner In Kuh Hoots, has been entered in three 350-yard Lucille Rowe Derby trials. Trained by John Hammes for owners Lisa Beauprez, Tom Bradbury and Tom Bradbury Jr., In Kuh Hoots is a homebred son of One Dashing Eagle. The gelding has earned $84,284 from eight outs, and his three wins include a three-quarter length victory at odds of 23-1 in last year’s Cherry Creek Futurity (R).

In Kuh Hoots will be ridden by Cesar Gomez from post 3 in the second heat. The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 15, $55.000-added Lucille Rowe Derby final.

Friday’s Cherry Creek Futurity trials have attracted 31 state-bred juveniles in four 330-yard trials. Panthers Fast Dash, a stakes-placed Coronas Fast Dash gelding owned and trained by Julio Corral, is coming off of a second-place finish, a head behind winner Sb Hoonigan, in the 300-yard, $74,000 Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity at Weber Downs in Ogden, Utah. An earner of $16,849 from two races, Panthers Fast Dash drew post 6 and will be ridden by Juan Pulido in the first trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will face off in the $75,000-added Cherry Creek Futurity final on July 15.
