Cobalt Creek is Morning-Line Favorite in King William Handicap

SELMA, TX—JULY 7, 2017—VWP Jr Inc.’s Cobalt Creek, a 5-year-old son of Walk Thru Fire trained by John Stinebaugh, is the 2-1 morning-line favorite in Saturday’s 350-yard, $20,000 King William Handicap at Retama Park.

Cobalt Creek will be making his first-ever start at Retama on Saturday. The Missouri-bred gelding ships in from Delta Downs, where he ran second, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Wild Tycoon, in the 350-yard, $25,000 Develop A Plan Stakes (G3) on May 27.

Cobalt Creek drew post 8 and will be ridden by Omar Reyes. His seven opponents include Zenergetic, a 4-year-old daughter of Dominyun trained by Brian Stroud for the Zenergetic Group. The mare is coming off of a half-length victory in the 350-yard, $20,000 Selma Stakes for distaffers at Retama on June 9.

Zenergetic drew post 2 and will be ridden by Juan F. Garcia Jr.
