SELMA, TX—JULY 12, 2017—A total of 106 2-year-olds, topped by Grade 1-winner Nymeria, has been entered in Friday’s 350-yard TQHA Sale Futurity (RG2) trials at Retama Park.
A brown daughter of Bigtime Favorite trained by Josue Ponce for owner Alfredo Garza, Nymeria is coming off of a neck victory in the 350-yard, $1.155-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park on June 3. The filly drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jose Alvarez in the ninth of 11 trials.
Eduardo J. Lugo’s Mountain Holme, a gray Gone To The Mountain filly trained by Jimmy Guerra Jr., will be making her first start outside of New Mexico in the fifth heat. Mountain Holme has earned $60,210 from five outs, and her resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Suenos Dineros, in the April 15, 300-yard West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park.
Jose Luis Enriquez will ride Mountain Holme.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 29, $100,000-added TQHA Sale Futurity final.
