SELMA, TX—JULY 13, 2017—Rachuan Suarez’s So Rapido and Sarah Huskey’s Fdp Rock Solid are among the 44 sophomores entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Retama Park Derby trials at Retama Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $75,000-added Retama Park Derby final on July 29.

As the luck of the draw would have it, So Rapido and Fdp Rock Solid both drew into the last of five heats. A sorrel son of Corona Cartel conditioned by reigning AQHA champion trainer Judd Kearl, So Rapido will be making his first start since April 29, when the colt scored a neck victory in the 350-yard, $198,000 Sam Houston Derby (G3) at Sam Houston Race Park.

All told, So Rapido has won three of five starts and has earned $122,317. The colt drew post 8 and will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo.

Fdp Rock Solid is a homebred Rock Solid Jess gelding trained by Esteban Rubio. Fdp Rock Solid has won five of eight outs and has banked $187,047, and he ended his 2-year-old campaign with a neck victory in the 440-yard, $303,000 Black Gold Futurity Championship (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Fdp Rock Solid drew post 7 and will be ridden by Noe Villatoro
